History of Lunchtimers
In early 1995, a group of London Masons who had spent considerable time conversing on the CompuServe Masonry Forum, decided to meet one lunchtime for a pint or two....this first meeting at the Prince of Wales, Gt. Queen Street led to a bi-monthly lunchtime get together, meantime members continued to communicate with each other via the Compuserve Masonry Forum. Others began to read their messages and interest spread.
Interested Non-Masons were welcomed into our online discussions and they asked to attend London Lunchtimers meetings, their interest grew and several of them have now been Initiated into Masonic Lodges.
In November of 1995, Richard Springer of Rhode Island and Vince Tillona of New Jersey, conversing in the same forum, discussed starting a similar venture in the United States. Richard moved first and started the Boston Lunchtimers #2 and Vince continued by forming the Manhattan Lunchtimers #3. The groups have all grown substantially with interest growing throughout the United States and the rest of the world. New Lunchtimer groups continue to form all around the world with the latest additions being in New Zealand and Australia.
